Fly Fisherman Christmas Gift Guide: Saratoga 25 Boat Box

It’s getting to be that time of year when Christmas gifts are getting bought and wish lists are getting sent to Santa Clause. If you’ve made the nice list or even if you made the naughty list, I’ll be sharing gift ideas for the angler in your life!

Two handles make it a breeze to carry around.

The first gift is the Saratoga 25 Boat Box by The Fly Project. This is hands down one of my favorite organization tools I use on or off the boat. Whether I have it loaded down with flies, tippet, and first aid kit or jammed with my vise and other fly tying materials, this box goes with me every where.

It’s great for use on or off the water.

I own several other boat boxes and they each have their place, however, this one checks most all of the boxes for my needs. It has a hard shell exterior that is bomb proof (don’t quote me on that) but it does easily hold my weight. The box is waterproof and has an automatic pressure release valve for when things heat up.

The latches are super easy to use and hold the lid down securely. As a bonus, the latches have TSA locks so you can travel with the box and not worry about your gear getting stolen. Additionally, there are stainless steel padlock loops for extra security and tie down options.

No need to sacrifice security its stows easily in almost any location.

One of the best features, and maybe the simplest one, is the box has HANDLES! Two of them. Who woulda thought putting handles on a hard shell box was a good idea (cough cough, Yeti). While the Saratoga Boat Box is slightly smaller than the aforementioned utility box, it fits perfection in any size boat or raft. I can stow it under the front angler seat in my raft with absolutely no problem.

26 liters gives you more than enough room to carry the essentials and more

The main compartment (26 L) is large enough to hold a med kit, a couple fly boxes, camera and lens, extra reel and spool, hemostats, pliers, snack, bug spray, and much more. There are two convenient stow-away side trays on either side of the main compartment for extra organization options.

Convenient side trays for keeping smaller things handy.

The interior of the box has two clear removable boxes to store flies, tippet, leaders, whatever you wanna put in it. Secured to the inside of the lid there is a fly patch to hang your lucky fly and a velcro pad for anything else you need to secure out of the way.

Ample removable storage boxes and fly patches for more organization.

I almost forgot to mention, it’s made in the USA. That is a huge bonus in my book and at a price under $200, it can’t be beat.

A tough box made in the USA.

I’ve been using this box for a year now and I can’t recommend it enough. Stay tuned for more Fly Fisherman Christmas Gift Guide ideas!

Cheers,

Allen
